Exporting Maps
Truevision Designer supports exporting scenes to a wide range of formats for simulation, visualization, and integration with external tools. You can access export options from the File > Export menu.
Export formats are organized into the following categories:
3D Geometry Formats
Use these formats to export the visual geometry of roads, environments, and custom objects for use in rendering or modeling tools:
- GLB / glTF: Lightweight, modern 3D formats ideal for web and real-time applications.
- FBX: Industry-standard format for 3D pipelines, supported by most engines and tools.
- OBJ: Widely supported format for static geometry with simple material information.
- USD: Universal Scene Description for scalable, extensible scene representation.
Road Network & Map Formats
Export semantic road data including lane topology, connections, and geometry:
- ASAM OpenDRIVE (various versions): Standard format for road network representation. Export compatible versions based on your target simulator or tool.
- CARLA Map Format (.xodr + FBX/GLB): Export scenes ready for use in the CARLA simulator with correct lane semantics and road meshes.
Simulator & Game Engine Integration
Export ready-to-use packages for simulation and game environments:
- CARLA: Includes OpenDRIVE and 3D mesh exports tailored for use with CARLA maps.
- Unreal Engine: Export FBX or glTF files optimized for import into Unreal Engine.
- Unity3D: Export glTF, FBX, or OBJ files compatible with Unity workflows.
Custom Export Configurations
You can define custom export presets to bundle multiple file types together—for example, exporting OpenDRIVE with a glTF mesh for use in both simulation and visualization. These configurations help streamline workflows across different platforms.
